EDO MBM Technology is the design authority for the UK Paveway IV electrical and mechanical interfaces, Tornado Heavy Duty Ejector Release Unit (HDERU), the Paveway III (UK) Adapter Group and Storm Shadow interface. For many years the company has also been involved with the design and manufacture of arming units as well as electrical and mechanical interface cables.
EDO MBM’s proven experience in mechanical suspension includes the provision of lug, mace, hardback and softback systems. This experience has enabled EDO MBM to deliver innovative interfacing solutions, for example enabling one weapon type to be carried on several different aircraft using a very simple common design.
EDO MBM brings invaluable knowledge into any new design requirement and contributes towards the simplicity and low risk of new designs.
For kitted weapons, specialist ‘on-weapon interfacing’ mechanical and electrical interfacing systems have been designed. Typical examples are linking weapon front-end hardware such as an IR seeker to the tail-end hardware without warhead modification and the provision of low profile adjustable (MIL-STD-1760) connector positions.
EDO MBM recognises the current trend towards small smart weapons, and believes that it can offer considerable relevant design expertise to prime contractors involved in weapons and airframe development. Technologies such as smart weapons and multiple store carriage integration onto existing platforms have been fully embraced by EDO MBM.
